In a 🥜: Just before Bree and Roger’s wedding, Jamie “accidentally” slit Roger’s throat. Bree and Claire were pretty pissed, so they...
Rly tho. Spoilers ahead!
Love seeing the artistry and symbolism within parallels...
These two! Great acting by both! ShowTryon is much more douchey than BookTryon, but I love to hate @TimDownie1 opposite @SamHeughan . Jamie looks like he’s struggling not to pound his face through the entire convo. Their body language is so intuitive, they hardly need a script!
It seemed there would be much to discuss between these 5 (and poor LJ always playing the part of the 5th wheel 💔). The scene was two seconds long w/no discernible dialogue. I was 😢 when the camera moved on quickly. Note the way LJ looks at Bree, and his expression for #RogerMac
The flashbacks to J&C’s own wedding... another subtle (or maybe not-so-subtle) reminder of who the mains of this gig really are. 💕 This ep is primarily about J&C marrying their daughter off, secondarily about this long-awaited plot resolution for Bree & Roger.
I have to wonder, with the Murcastinnes triangle shaping up, if the book shenanigans will still come into play later... just musing ahead... 🤔
The wedding ceremony: Lordy, the genius of the shots from behind “that woman’s hat”!👒I believe it was Marsali’s. But I got super irritated at that hat (watching through a cat’s head in my lap already) and suddenly realized that the hat made me feel like I was actually there!👏
Jamie’s smolder is out of control. His glance at Lord John as he walks Bree down the aisle... 🔥
Jamie & Bree were super sweet. Obvs they decided to skip over the stages of forgiveness here; she’s Da’s wee lass and he doesna want to part wi’ her. Jamie’s emotions & reactions are the focal point here again, and Sam did superbly, playing the entire scene on the verge of tears.
Fraser’s Ridge! The Big House! 🤩😍🤩 Bree hardly says a word as they get ready, while Claire babbles on in a very un-Claire-like bout of verbosity. You can tell they want to make the wedding more about Claire & Jamie’s experiencing it, then Bree & Roger. As it should be.
We’ve all seen the first four minutes. I actually feel a bit bad for Roger here... Jamie with a blade to his throat, slinging salt all over Roger’s shortcomings. Quite the enjoyable roast, but then Roger is already keenly aware of how ill prepared he is for 18c life.
Opening credits: love the song, no big spoilers there for the rest of the season that I noticed.
